What is a “Bespoke Tour”?

To help you understand the advantages of a bespoke tour, consider the following Our bespoke tours are tailor-made to suit your desires.

A typical one-day tour will include the sites you request. For example, instead of following a coach tour itinerary set by a company, you can choose specific sites to visit, such as Hermitage Castle and Caerlaverock Castle. Every tour is unique, and we can sometimes even adapt on the day to include visits to ancestral sites you wish to reconnect with.

Our most popular tour is the Reiver Trail and Border Country, as many of our visitors have roots in the Borderlands or association with the Armstrong family name.

I’m often asked about pricing and the reason that a bespoke tour costs a little more than an average package tour is because we go the extra mile to create a truly personal experience for you. If you have local ancestry in the area, we can help uncover those connections. If you have something specific in mind, we’ll make it happen.

We can take you off the beaten track to explore the deeper history and hidden gems of the area – places that most people (including many locals) never get to see.

Creating your tour

We will work with you to plan your holiday according to your likes and dislikes.

Because of our extensive local knowledge and expertise, we can help you to plan a tour of destinations unique to your tastes. We don’t get paid commissions to coerce our customers to visit certain tourist attractions so you can rest assured our recommendations will be tailored to your personal tastes.

You have the freedom to choose where you want to go, how leisurely you want the journey to be and how long you want to stay there when you we arrive (subject to the terms of the location, of course).

We have a vast range of destinations to offer you, including stately homes, beautiful gardens, wild and rugged landscapes, and sites of special historical or scientific interest.

Some ideas for your tour

Visit the weathered heights of Ben Nevis, bask in the Tranquil Beauty of Loch Lomond or enjoy the more developed amenities of lake Windermere by enjoying a lakeland cruise.

Do you want to follow a certain historical figure? Perhaps follow in the footsteps of Robert the Bruce or Isambard Brunel?

Perhaps you want to learn about the legends of Robin Hood or King Arthur, learn about the Scottish folklore that inspired the Kelpies, visit famous filming locations in the UK, or tour the distilleries of Scotland?

If you have an idea for the perfect holiday, Armstrong Tours can help to make it a reality.

From the moment that you get in touch to the time that we leave, your adventure is our mission.
